    How hard can it be to enforce a No Smoking Policy on a boat?
    If you're caught smoking then you're thrown overboard.

    I had seen on the news the other day that the captain was given shore duty while there was a further investigation. Now, I see (from the news articles) that he has indeed been dismissed, along with the XO.

    It could have been a much worse situation, and fortunately it didn’t result in worse injuries than there were, or even death.

    Indeed, the sailors are quite lucky nobody was killed. I wonder if the investigators have an idea who threw the cigarette butt which led to the fire, and if that individual will find himself facing criminal charges of some sort.

    A fire aboard Ship !! What's wrong with the command on the USS Washington?
    How could this happen? Its time to review who the Nay puts in charge of a Nuclear carrier and those aboard that let this continue..Everybody over the side and back on land they don't deserve to serve with dishonor.
